4/17/24 - 4/23/24 BBB training, catching up on a LOT of days.

4/17/24 BBB squat @140 2x25 I only had time to squat on this day. First set was done as a straight set, the second ended up being a widowmaker where the last 5 or so reps were done breathing style. High rep squats are peak lifting. --- 4/19/24  The second half of my high rep squat day Giant set: - 5s Press, 135x5 top set Hard. I won't keep repeating myself from here on out in regards to my pressing strength. I just have to grind my way back. Bodyweight for reps is the goal. (178 btw) Chin-ups 10, 10, 6 These are getting much better. Single leg squat 11, 17, 8 I hit a surprise PR on the second set! Going good.  - Hip thrust "350" @ 135lb 10, 9, 7 I've decided that I will keep the weight "low" on hip thrusts because this new technique I've been using has been lighting up my glutes. The 350 progression is a nice progression scheme where you increase the weight once you're able to get 50 reps in 3 sets. Something slow, but intense like that will enable m...

4/15/24 very late post. starting BBB again.

5s pro Deadlift (225, 260, 295)lbs My legs are stronger than my core by a large margin. My legs move the weight but my back is rounding more than I would like. BBB giant set --- Bench Press 5x10 @ 105lbs This was surprisingly easier than the last time I tried it. Inverted Row 5x10 A more natural grip width makes this movement feel better. No issues with grip.  Single leg/arm deadlift @65lbs (6, 6, 7), swapped out for sets 4 and 5. + Single leg glute hyperextension  @+25lb 2x10 Single leg deadlift form was too inconsistent and my training time is too limited to compromise the glute and hamstring hypertrophy im after. I decided to try out weighted Single leg hypers and REALLY liked it. Gotta play with loading styles.  --- Hip thrust top set 225x5 225x5 moved like butter but I couldn't budge 315.... Perhaps my fast twitch fibers were fatigued by this point, or maybe my form wasn't stable enough.  I needed a more balanced routine so l went back to my variation of 5/3/1 B...

4/1/24 --> 4/12/24

4/1/24 _______ Double arm, single leg dumbell deadlift. 6x3, 4x2 w/ 75lb dbs This was inspired by Jamie Lewis's heavy 10x3 method. Honestly my balance wasn't good enough to handle the weights I picked so my reps didn't look good. After the halfway point I couldn't get sets of 3 that were satisfactory so I continued with doubles. Despite wobbly form, it was a great stimulus.  Shiko (12, 10, 8, 10, 8)a The heavy work made these feel reaaaaaally good.  I've once heard shiko described as "moving meditation" and I certainly agree!  ________ 4/3/24 ________ Single leg squat  5x1e @ +55lb (14, 10, 7) @BW I gave an honest attempt at Jamie Lewis's method of doing 15x1 at 3rm. My form was beginning to break down and I could seriously feel the muscles in my legs straining. It felt unsafe to proceed after 5 singles. Up to that point they felt very productive. I did rep work at bodyweight. My body felt nice and primed from the singles, but my fast twitch fibers mus...

Jumbo shrimp squats 10x3 Pistol squats 13, 10, 8 Deficit single leg hip thrust 11, 9,  7 On my 5 hour flight back to work I spent the time reading Jamie Lewis's books. His writing get me hyped to train like nothing else can.
